BHUBANESWAR, India — When Sachin Behera’s colleagues ask for his attention at the busy Capital Ford workshop in the eastern Indian city of Bhubaneswar, they don’t yell out, but wave a cloth, walk over to him or use gestures instead.
Behera has been hearing and speech impaired since birth. But his hands do all the talking, and his disabilities haven’t stopped him from using his skills in the service bays and on Ford cars that roll in daily for service to the workshop. The 31-year-old refuses to budge from his bay until he has solved every issue that the customer raises – the car must go out and ensure satisfaction for the customer. And he insists on this with every car that he touches.
