– The Ford Fusion is known for its flexibility, but a couple in Finland recently found a new use for the car – as a mobile delivery room!
Rosa and Mika Niilonen were on their way to a maternity hospital near their home in Helsinki when their daughter, Sara, decided to make an unscheduled appearance.
Rosa had visited the hospital earlier in the day, but was told her child’s birth would be on schedule the following week. Reassured, she returned home. However, after a few hours she called her husband at work and told him she was having labour pains.
Mika sped home and with Rosa sitting in the back of the Fusion headed again for the hospital. He didn’t make it in time; five minutes into the journey, while the car was stopped at a red traffic light, Rosa announced the birth was imminent.
While an ambulance was on its way, Rosa gave birth on the back seat of the Fusion. The ambulance and a doctor arrived soon after to give both mother and daughter the care they needed.
Both Rosa and Mika are firm Ford fans, now even more so, and have expressed their thanks for “an excellent car.”
