MANILA, Philippines— The All-New Ford Fiesta proved itself as a stylish, convenient and fuel-efficient vehicle once again, this time to representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE) in the Philippines.
Representatives from Ford Group Philippines (FGP) set-up a Fiesta fuel-efficiency challenge to travel more than 700 kilometres on a single tank of gas, with the DoE witnessing the process and results, including refuelling of the vehicles at its conclusion to verify results.
Four new Ford Fiesta vehicles kicked-off from Balintawak, making their way to the northern part of Luzon (Vigan) and back, all vying for the most fuel-efficient drive.
All four test vehicles were subjected to a DOE examination prior to the run, with Fiesta’s hoods, lift gates and fuel lids checked and officially sealed.
Each vehicle included a driver and navigator, while normal driving conditions were established with the windows closed at all times and the air-conditioner set and secured at the lowest speed for the entire duration of the drive.
The run was performed at average speeds between 40-80 kph depending on traffic conditions, with the results clearly demonstrating Fiesta’s superior fuel-efficiency capabilities:
°Ford Fiesta 1.6L A/T Trend sedan scored the highest, garnering a total mileage of 747 km and an average fuel consumption of 19 km/L
°Two Fiesta 1.6L A/T Sport Hatchbacks both achieved more than 730 kilometres and impressive fuel consumption averages of 18.84 km/L and 18.73 km/L
°Fiesta 1.4L M/T Trend sedan also surpassed expectations reaching 705 kilometres on a single tank and a notable average of 17.03 km/L
“The All-New Ford Fiesta proved that it's indeed a class-leader for fuel-efficiency, confirming expectations with some very impressive results,” says Dino Obias, assistant vice president for Marketing, FGP.
Next month, Ford will host a second fuel-efficiency test with members of the Philippine media corps, and present a challenge to all participants to try and beat these already impressive results in Balintawak.
