BRENTWOOD, England – The 65.6 mpg, 114g CO2/km 1.6-litre TDCi Mondeo was declared the UK's greenest family car at this year's What Car? Green Awards.
What Car? editor in chief Chas Hallett said: "Ford has done great things to the Mondeo. The award-winning 1.6 TDCi is the best green family car, being both a brilliant all-rounder and remarkably eco-friendly with its low CO2 rating of 114g/km.
"The judging team praised its supple and controlled ride, lively chassis and perfectly weighted steering."
In January, within months of going on sale, the new Mondeo was voted by What Car? as the best overall family and estate car.
Mark Ovenden, Ford Britain managing director, said: "Thanks to impressive fuel economy, Ford has an outstanding low-carbon vehicle line-up which combines design style, technology and affordability. This Mondeo's UK-built 1.6 diesel engine is an extraordinary combination of performance and low CO2 and is available across the range from Fiesta to Galaxy."
