Four Wins in a Row for Changan Ford Racing Team

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

ORDOS, China – It seems nothing can stop the Changan Ford Racing Team winning at the moment. After three consecutive victories, the team delivered another extraordinary performance by winning first and third place in the 2011 China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) Ordos leg in Inner Mongolia.

On July 9, in the qualifying round, the Ford Focus hit the track to fight for pole position in the upcoming race. The three drivers – Rainey He, Tengyi Jiang and Gaoxiang Fan – made full use of the fresh tyres and landed the first, second and fourth positions, respectively.

The following day, the race started in the afternoon and the track temperature reached 54 degrees Centigrade, creating significant challenges for the drivers, as well as the cars.

Unfortunately, Rainey He’s Focus experienced a mechanical issue with the gear shift and he had to quit the race after the first lap. However, teammate Tengyi Jiang took the opportunity to jump into the lead, which he did not relinquish for the rest of the race. His fellow team driver Gaoxiang Fan also drove hard and placed third for the first time this season.

Part of the race was broadcast live via Changan Ford’s micro-blogging platforms, which generated 52 posts, 656 reposts and 410 comments, while 18 reporters from 17 media were on hand to witness the Changan Ford Racing Team’s victory.

An online poll asking “Which racing driver do you think will win in Ordos?” had attracted votes from 387 fans and generated 242 comments before the race. The live micro-blogging has reached 725,092 race fans to date.

The Ordos win means the team holds on to the top position in the overall 2011 CTCC Manufacturers Cup rankings with 156 points, 55 points ahead of the second placed Kia 778 team.

The team will have a summer break and return to the same circuit for the fifth leg of the CTCC series in early September.
