Ford in the Press – Week 10

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

Europe’s media can’t get enough of the all-new Fiesta ST (click here to see the car in action at Lommel). It’s also been a great week for Ford EcoSport on the back of a highly successful Geneva Motor Show for Ford…

Sunday Times (UK) on Fiesta ST: You do not need to be in a desert or halfway up a mountain to enjoy Fiesta ST: any half-decent road driven at a perfectly sensible, legal pace will do. Here you'll find a car that makes you feel you're in the thick of the action. You discover you can place it where you want on the road, not to the inch, but the millimetre. Raise the effort level and you'll discover a chassis set up in such a way that if you lift your foot off the accelerator in the middle of a corner, rather than drifting as it slows down, the car bites back into the apex. If you have the space — and the nerve — to turn off the stability control, this little Fiesta will rotate around its axis like a rally car, letting you adjust your line through a corner as much with your right foot on the throttle pedal as your hands on the steering wheel. The best way I can define it is to say that the ST feels like a throwback to another, simpler and more entertaining age…. By being true to its heritage and brave with its price, Ford has set the bar spectacularly high for its French rivals.”

Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger (Germany) on EcoSport: “Ford took the wraps off the European version of its EcoSport subcompact SUV at the Geneva Motor Show. The model is expected to go on sale in late 2013. The EcoSport is similar in size to the Opel Mokka and the Peugeot 2008. Its engine portfolio is comprised of two gasoline versions and one diesel. Ford has yet to announce prices of the five-seat offering. Technology fans are likely to be impressed with the inclusion of the Ford Sync multimedia system, which is a standard feature. It makes voice control of smartphone apps possible. It also comes with an Emergency Assistance system. The EcoSport is the first globally available Ford that was completely designed and engineered in South America.”

El País (Spain) on EcoSport: “Positioned below the Kuga, the new EcoSport (4.24m) completes Ford’s range of SUVs. It shares the mechanical base of the Fiesta and B-MAX and will reach Spain in late 2013 with three engines: the 1.5 110PS and 1.0 EcoBoost (turbo) 125PS gasoline units and the new 1.5 TDCi 90PS diesel, all with front-wheel drive (4x2). The EcoSport is a small, city-oriented SUV that will rival the Renault Captur and Peugeot 2008. Among its innovations is SYNC AppLink by Microsoft, which lets you manage your smartphone and applications with voice commands.”
