HANOI, Vietnam – Ford continues to make steady improvements in quality and customer satisfaction across the Asia Pacific and Africa region, with Vietnam being the latest market recognised for its performance. In the first-ever J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2009 Vietnam Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study released this week, Ford ranked third in overall new-vehicle sales satisfaction and was one of only four brands to score above the industry average.
''Ford Vietnam remains fully committed to delivering world class standards of sales and customer satisfaction, and is very pleased at being recognised among the market leaders for sales satisfaction in J.D. Power's independent survey,'' said Michael Pease, General Director, Ford Vietnam.
The results of the Study were based on responses from 708 new-vehicle owners who purchased their vehicles between October 2008 and June 2009. The Study measured their satisfaction with the sales and delivery experience on a 1,000-point scale through the following factors: delivery process, delivery timing, sales initiation, paperwork, salesperson, dealer facility and deal.
Ford's score of 837 was higher than the industry average of 826 points, and just behind Honda's 852 points, and Toyota, 840. Other brands in the SSI Study included Mitsubishi, with 829 points, Kia, with 806 points, and GM Daewoo, with 792 points.
A number of factors contributed to increased customer sales satisfaction, including the option of taking a test drive before purchase, the condition of the car upon delivery, and whether or not a special ceremony was held when the car was delivered.
In 2009, Ford Vietnam put a renewed focus on all areas of customer satisfaction, including launching new state-of-the-art assembly facilities, expanding production capacity, new model launches and a full range of dealer support activities, including Ford's best-in-class Quality Care service programme and new dealer sales and delivery processes.
''It's reassuring to Ford Vietnam and our extensive Ford dealer network that the initiatives Ford is taking in bringing global standards and processes to Vietnam are being recognised by Vietnamese consumers, and are being reflected in increased customer satisfaction as well as rapidly increasing sales,'' said Pease.
Ford Vietnam remains committed to further progress in customer satisfaction and implementing best practices from around the world.
