Ford Spain teams up with Microsoft

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

VALENCIA, Spain, April 12, 2010 – Ford of Spain and Microsoft have joined forces to launch a new version of the Ka: the Ka Windows Live Messenger Edition. Available with both diesel and petrol engines, it comes in response to both companies' strategy of offering products that customers really want and creative solutions to real-life problems.

The companies have worked together to develop a limited edition run of 500 units of Ford's popular urban car as a very special present to the members of the Microsoft Windows Instant Messenger community, which has over 15.5 million users only in Spain.

These 500 very exclusive Ka units will come equipped as standard with a Windows Phone HTC Touch 2 mobile phone, the first handset with the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS as a standard feature, including CoPilot (GPS), a USB charger, and a "BuddyUSB" with music and access to +KeDummies, Ford of Spain's social network and its main channel to reach young customers.

This new Ka also comes with a wealth of personalisation options both inside and out that make a clear reference to the popular Windows instant messaging client. The interior has a stylish, dynamic design with bold contrasts, expressive colours and imaginative details such as a gear knob and floor mats decorated with buddies, the Messenger emoticons.

The launch of the vehicle is accompanied by an original online campaign: “cuantoskabenenunka” (howmanypeoplefitinaka). Users registering at http://www.cuantoskabenenunka.com can win a Ford Ka Messenger if they manage to fit the highest number of passengers in a Ford Ka Messenger.
