CUAUTITLAN IZCALLI -- The President and CEO of Ford of Mexico Eduardo Serrano Berry, along with the State of Mexico Governor, Enrique Pena Nieto, recently gave a tour at the company's plant in Cuautitlan Izcalli to showcase the advanced refurbishments at the plant.
The facility will begin operations the first quarter of 2010, building the all-new 2011 Ford Fiesta, a vehicle set for export to the U.S. market, as well as supplying domestic market demand. En la siguiente etapa, Brasil será integrado y posiblemente otros países de esa región como Argentina, Chile y Colombia. In the next stage, Brazil will be integrated and possibly other countries in the region such as Argentina, Chile and Colombia to receive the new Fiesta produced at the site.
In May 2008, Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally announced an investment of $3 billion for the development of three different projects in the country: restructuring of the plant in Cuautitlan, the integration of a new diesel engine plant in Ford complex in Chihuahua (where it already produces engines I-4) and the production of a new transmission in Guanajuato, in a totally new plant developed in conjunction with Getrag.
Thanks to investment in Ford's Cuautitlan Plant, the site will generate about 2,000 direct jobs at the start of Ford Fiesta production -- an amount that will increase gradually as vehicle production accelerates at the plant.
