NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (Fusion)
Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Fusion, was the highest finishing Ford, coming in 11th in the Sylvania 500 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Fellow Ford “chasers” Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth finished in 17th and 23rd positions respectively. Both Edwards and Kenseth were involved in incidents that cost them track position.
Top five finishers in Loudon include: (1) Clint Bowyer - Chevrolet; (2) Denny Hamlin - Toyota; (3) Jamie McMurray - Chevrolet; (4) Dale Earnhardt Jr. - Chevrolet; (5) Kevin Harvick - Chevrolet.
Results of the race shook up the points standings in the Chase, putting Edwards in 8th, 95 points behind the leader Hamlin. Biffle drops to 9th, 13 points behind Edwards while Kenseth falls to 12th, 136 points behind the lead.
NHRA Funny Car Series (Mustang)
Cruz Pedregon, Chevrolet, defeated Jack Beckman, Dodge, to win O'Reilly Auto Parts Nationals in Concord, North Carolina.
Ford drivers and their final positions include; Tim Wilkerson (did not qualify), Robert Hight (lost to Matt Hagan in round one), John Force (lost to Paul Lee in round one), Ashley Force Hood (lost to Bob Tasca III in round two) and Bob Tasca III (lost to Jack Beckman in the semifinals
