DENMARK/SPAIN – Grand C-MAX and all-new Focus have outperformed key rivals in tests carried out by leading European publications.
In Denmark, the Ford Grand C-MAX finished in first place in a test of MPVs carried out by the country's leading automotive magazine, Bilmagasinet. For the test, the new Ford model was pitted against its main rivals, the VW Touran, Renault Grand Scenic and Peugeot 5008.
After a thorough examination of all four models, the magazine reached the following conclusion: "Grand C-Max is the most engaging car to drive and it completes all disciplines brilliantly. 5008 dances into second place because of its delicious design and fine engines, and despite a few design mistakes in the cabin. Grand Scenic takes third place, but if the only target had been the price of the car it would have won. For once, VW had to settle for last place. Touran is good, but too expensive - and is clearly the biggest disappointment in the crowd."
In Spain, Auto Bild compared the all-new Focus 1.6 TDCi with the VW Golf 1.6 TDI BlueMotion. The result was a conclusive success for the Ford model.
Auto Bild's verdict: "Focus, 356 / 500 points, 1st place. Golf, 353 / 500 points, 2nd place. In absolute terms, the Golf BlueMotion proves that it's the best saver of all. However, this isn't enough to overtake the Focus, which has more convincing arguments. Technology and driver assistance systems are the big ones. The Ford simply decimates the VW in these areas. Available for almost the same price, the Blue Oval's car is better equipped. It deserves this victory, which Volkswagen won't soon forget."
