TAIPEI, Taiwan – Ford Lio Ho's (FLH) commitment to the community and the environment was recognised last week when it was named one of the top contributing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) companies in Taiwan.

Global Views Monthly – a leading business magazine in Taiwan and winner of the 2009 Society of Publishers in Asia Award for Editorial Excellence – held its sixth annual CSR awards ceremony on March 4 at the Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei. FLH President Albert Li accepted the award in the category of ''Foreign Investment/Manufacturing Company'' from Taiwan's Premier Wu.

''Our vision is to drive great products, a strong business and a better world,'' said Li during his acceptance speech.

The winners were chosen based on a survey conducted in December 2009. A panel of eight judges evaluated each entrant's contributions to the community in terms of corporate practices, social initiatives and environmental initiatives.

Li further emphasised FLH's commitment to CSR during the awards ceremony.

''Over the past eight years, our company has supported more than 50 community projects through our Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants programme,'' said Li. ''This past year, we also implemented Ford's global Driving Skills for Life programme in Taiwan and to date have trained over 350 drivers to be safer and more fuel-efficient on the road.''

Other activities that drove the win for FLH included the company's implementation of a green design concept in the product development process in 1999, as well as its participation in the 2001 Green Productivity Model Factory programme, promoted by the Industrial Development Bureau and the Asian Productivity Organisation. FLH is also a regular participant in Ford's annual Global Week of Caring initiative.

A total of 19 companies received awards from Global Views Monthly across seven categories, including technology, banking and manufacturing. FLH was one of three winners in its category.
