TOKYO, Japan – The Ford Mustang, America's most loved "pony car" for more than 45 years, is now available at select Ford dealers in Japan.
With its short deck lid, long hood and galloping Mustang centred in the grille, there's no question to the heritage of this newest model Mustang.
Borrowing from the crisp, sharp lines of earlier thoroughbreds, the exterior has been redesigned to emphasise a more muscular and sculpted look. Likewise, the interior been completely revamped.
Like the original model in 1964, two body styles – a convertible and a coupe – are available in left-hand drive versions. Both models offer the choice of two engines – a thrifty, fuel sipping V6 or a potent, muscular V8.
All exterior sheetmetal, with the exception of the fastback roofline, is new for 2010. Like the original models, external differences between the two models are slight. Headlamps and turn indicators are integrated into one piece, much like the 1970 model. On the V6, the fog lamps are located in the lower fascia while on the more powerful GT, the fog lamps are moved to the upper grille. Lamps are smaller and similar in size to the original lamps found on the 1967 models.
The new power dome hood hints at the available horsepower underneath and, coupled with a newly designed front grille, adds additional air flow to the engine.
In terms of driving performance, the new Mustang is engineered to deliver an exhilarating driving experience, while ensuring high levels of safety with the latest technology, including Ford's newly incorporated AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control system.
The new Mustang is available in a range of exterior colours, including Black, Performance White, Candy Red, Kona Blue and Brilliant Silver.
With the launch of the latest ''pony car'', Ford Japan continues to provide exciting products and services to Japanese consumers.
