Ford In German Research Consortium Developing Lightweight Body For Electric Vehicles

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

COLOGNE, Germany – Ford’s European research centre in Aachen is working with VW and 12 other organisations in Germany, including Dow Automotive Systems and the University of Paderborn, to develop a lightweight body for electric vehicles.

The LIGHT eBODY project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research and will run until May 2014.

A lightweight body will enable electric vehicles to reduce energy consumption and extend the distance between recharges. The research consortium will focus on a multi-material body which is suitable for mass production.
