DEARBORN – With one weekend remaining in October, Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service, says this month's sales report will show another solid month of progress.
Czubay, speaking to reporters gathered at World Headquarters Friday morning for a sales preview, said he expects October's industry sales rate to be in the mid-10-million unit range, the highest monthly pace of the year – excluding the July and August Cash for Clunkers months.
"I think the rollercoaster is pretty much over, Czubay said. "For the most part, the Cash for Clunkers payback is behind us. We expect sales to improve modestly over the next 12 months."
Ford expects solid sales performance throughout its product lineup in October.
"I'm pretty sure we're going to see a stronger level of car and CUV sales compared to a year ago," said U.S. Sales Analysis Manager George Pipas, who also spoke to reporters.
Czubay said that Ford Truck Month is going well and that F-Series share will show an increase for October. He also said the new 2010 Taurus continues to be well received by consumers and that the launch of the new 2010 Lincoln MKT is off to a good start.
Overall, Ford's 2010 model mix for the month is running about 80 percent 2010 models, while incentive spending is down approximately 30 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
