DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

CHENNAI, India — Ford India has opened 45 sales and service outlets across 35 cities and towns, a record-breaking achievement which further extends Ford's footprint of world-class products and services in one of the world's fastest growing auto markets.

At MPL Ford's new sprawling outlet in Pallikarnai, Chennai, Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham lit a traditional lamp to inaugurate the state-of-the art Sales, Service and Spares (3S) outlet to the public. Boneham was presented with an angavastram (a ceremonial shawl) and a huge garland of red roses, before being joined by the Dealer Principal of MPL Ford, S. Raveendranathan.

"This is a historic moment in Ford's growth, and we're proud to now be present in 230 outlets across 123 cities," Boneham said. "This is part of our new brand promise to 'Go Further' -- to bring you world-class vehicles like the All-New Fiesta and recently unveiled urban SUV EcoSport, locating a service outlet closer to where you live and reducing the cost of ownership of the vehicle."

Across the country, new facilities were also opened in New Delhi, Noida, Rohtak, Sonepat, Panipat, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Alwar, Bikaner in the north; Rourkela,  Agartala, Kolkata in the east; Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Gulbarga, Hyderabad, Belgaum, Thanjavur, Tirupur in the south; and Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Goa, Jabalpur, Indore, Sagar, Solapur, Bhillai, Jamnagar in the west.

The outlets sported a festive atmosphere, as they gave a hint of the colourful local customs and cultures with flowers, rangolis, tilak ceremonies and lighting of brass lamps.

Joining Boneham in the nationwide inauguration were Joginder Singh, executive director of Global Business Services in Bikaner, executive director of Marketing, Sales and Service, Nigel Wark, in Bangalore and over 30 other senior Ford executives in other cities and towns.

With over 40 percent of the sales and service network in Tier Two and Tier Three cities, the pan-India expansion will enable Ford customers to enjoy world-class products and services along with a best-in-class cost-of-ownership experience.

For many of Ford India's managers who had the opportunity to open a dealership for the first time, the experience was memorable.

"It can be tiring to cover the 5.5 hour drive from Pune to Solapur, but the thought that the customer would not have to do this every time his car gives trouble, with our dealership opening there helped me enjoy the drive to Solapur," said vice-president, Powertrain Operations Radhakrishnan Balasundaram, who was the chief guest at the inauguration.

FM Mango in Kerala also had Tom Chackalackal, executive director, Manufacturing, speaking to radio listeners in English and Malayalam, and stressing Ford India's commitment to quality with this initiative.

Of the new sales and service outlets inaugurated across India, 20 will offer full 3S (Showroom, Sales and Service) facilities, while 14 will be service workshops, providing a full line of after sales services and 11 standalone sales/retail showrooms.

"Being one of the oldest dealers of Ford, I can proudly say that this is one company that always goes the extra mile for its customers. We are proud to grow with Ford and will continue to offer its customers our very best," said Raveendranathan, who also had another outlet inaugurated at Kochi on Thursday.

The newly-inaugurated showrooms are all new Brand@Retail-II dealerships, built according to Ford's global standard to improve the ownership experience and ensure a long-term association with the Ford brand.
