MADRID, Spain - Ford’s SYNC AppLink voice-activated in-car connectivity system has been named Best In-car Technology at the Xataka Technology Awards 2013.
Xataka is Spain’s leading technology website and its community of users and a jury of journalists chose SYNC AppLink over other award finalists which included the BMW i3, Renault ZOE and Nissan Leaf electric cars and Volvo’s Cyclist Detection System.
Ford of Spain’s marketing director, Joaquín Sáenz-Messía, said that with this award the Spanish technology community “recognised that Ford is on the right path and shows, that thanks to their in-car connectivity technologies, Ford’s models are class-leading products.”
SYNC availability has expanded to include nearly the entire line of Ford cars and trucks in North America. Just six years after the introduction of SYNC, the Company has produced 10 million vehicles equipped with this award-winning technology. In 2012, Ford introduced this technology in Europe with the launch of the B-MAX, and it currently features on other Ford European models, such as Fiesta, Focus, C-MAX, Grand C-MAX, Kuga, and Transit Custom.
When SYNC AppLink becomes available in Europe next year, Ford will offer a range of compatible apps including among others TomTom navigation, Audioteka audiobooks, Hotels.com hotel information, ADAC parking, Eventseeker and Cityseeker by Wcities, DIE WELT, Spotify music streaming, Kaliki, Glympse, and Aha.
