COLOGNE, Germany - Growth in new car and commercial vehicle registrations, plus increased demand from private customers saw Ford outperform the German market in September.
Ford passenger car sales totaled 16,144 units, an increase of 1.2 per cent compared to September 2012. In contrast, total car sales in Germany dropped 1.2 percent during the same period.
Ford’s passenger car market share reached 6.5 percent in September. Ford C-MAX and Ford Focus performed particularly strongly, with sales up 45.5 per cent and 7.6 per cent compared with August.
Ford’s market share in the private buyer sector reached 7.2 per cent, a gain of 2.8 percentage points compared to September 2012.
Large increases also were recorded in the commercial vehicle sector. With a total of 2,339 newly registered vehicles, Ford achieved an increase of 35 per cent compared to September 2012.
In total 24,728 commercial vehicles were registered in Germany in September, representing an increase of 4 per cent. Ford 's market share in the sector was 9.5 per cent and 2.2 per cent up on the same period last year .
