COLOGNE, Germany - Ford of Germany is joining forces with Ford dealer service mbH (FHD) and DB Rent GmbH to launch a ground-breaking, car-sharing scheme called FORD2GO.
Under the terms of the new scheme, Ford will supply cars to businesses and private customers throughout Germany specifically for car-share use. Ford is the first automotive company in Germany to do so.
Bernhard Mattes, CEO of Ford-Werke GmbH: "FORD2GO takes another step towards sustainable mobility. Car-sharing has to be considered as an interesting and forward-thinking business in the face of increasingly complex mobility needs and in the sense of a complete range of mobility options.
“We believe that there is high growth potential both with residential and commercial customers.”
Recent surveys have shown that the majority of German car dealers want to actively enter into the car-sharing business with the automotive manufacturers.
FORD2GO will launch in the second quarter of 2013 with selected trading partners and will then be successively rolled out nationwide. Ford in Germany currently has 527 dealers with 257 affiliated branches and 1083 Ford authorized repairers. Participation in FORD2GO" is open to all parties.
