Ford Launches its Fastest Fiesta ST for Performance Car Lovers in China

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

BEIJING, China — Ford is set to further ignite Chinese performance car lovers’ enthusiasm this summer with another new arrival from its ST product range, the highly anticipated new Ford Fiesta ST. Sharing the same Ford ST DNA with the Focus ST, the new Fiesta ST expands the company’s offering in China’s performance vehicle segment and delivers the ultimate driving experience to car enthusiasts in an even nimbler three-door version.

In a test drive held on the outskirts of Beijing, more than 50 Journalists took Ford’s smallest high performance model for a spin. The test drive route, featuring 200 corners and over 30 hairpin turns, served as a perfect testing ground to challenge the power and handling of the new Fiesta ST.

Once getting behind the wheel, journalists were immediately fascinated by the genuine sportiness of the new Ford Fiesta ST, which was accentuated by a specially designed interior with Recaro seats, carbon fibre dashboard inserts, alloy-metal pedals, and an ST steering wheel.

“From the time I started the engine of the Fiesta ST, I loved this car. After the whole day test drive, I was totally convinced. It offers a perfect balance between power, handling and fuel efficiency. I will definitely choose it as my next car,” said Liu Qingnan, a reporter from Auto News.

The one-day test drive was far from enough to fully demonstrate the charm of this fun-to-drive performance car in detail. However, the initial taste of the vehicle’s potential intrigued the attending media with its great riding performance, bold and aggressive styling and surprising fuel efficiency gaining the most admiration.

“The 1.6L EcoBoost engine of the Fiesta ST is powerful and responsive, mated with the manual transmission. It sounds amazing and delivered great power,” said Liu Lei, of Auto Car. “The fuel consumption of our vehicle was 7.8l/100m even in the fierce drive, which made it stand out among the competitors. It’s the king of the small hot hatch in China,” added Liu.

The new Ford Fiesta ST was officially launched in China on July 4 with a price of RMB185,900 (around USD29,810). This newest addition to the Ford ST family comes with a new high-output variant of the advanced 1.6L EcoBoost engine, delivering top power of 134 kW and peak torque of 240 Nm. The car races from 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 220 km/h.

The test drive route combined a mix of city roads and twisty mountain roads to test the new Ford Fiesta ST’s ride-and-handling improvements.
The hottest ST hatch gains wide acclaim from journalists in the Beijing test drive.
