Ford in the Press – Week 12

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

All-new Fiesta ST is the stand-out performer in Europe’s press this week. In fact, reaction from road testers reporting back from Ford’s media drive in the South of France has been extraordinary…

Auto Bild (Germany): “At 19,990 euros, the Fiesta ST is clearly more affordable than the Polo GTI, which comes with a 180PS engine and a direct shift gearbox. At 22,925 euros the VW costs about 3,000 euros more than the Fiesta ST. The new Fiesta ST is clearly worth a recommendation. Not just because of its low price, but also because Ford understands that certain cars just have to be fun to drive.”

Scottish Daily Record (Scotland): “This is a driver's car - and no shrinking violet, either. All this amounts to one of the most attractive little cars to hit the market in quite some time. It's one that has put the heat back into the hot hatch market in no uncertain terms.”

Drivingspirit.com (UK): “It’s safe to say the new Fiesta ST has just leapt to the top of the class. It’s obvious that Ford have spent a huge amount of time honing every aspect of its driving dynamics and the hard work has paid off. It is that rare breed of car that manages to be incredibly rewarding to drive as quickly as you can and yet still feels good when you’re cruising. I’ve been lucky enough to drive some very quick cars over the past year but this is one of the few that I would consider spending my own money on. Fast, fun and affordable. It’s exactly what a hot hatch should be.”

Cars.aol.uk: (UK): “Good? It's fantastic. We'll admit that we love our hot hatches in the AOL Cars office, but the ST really is superb. For a start, it's amazingly easy – and fun – to drive quickly. The front end just grips and grips regardless of how hard you push, and everything from the gear change to the weight of the steering feels just right. It's quick, but it's no monster either – there's a sense that it's been given just enough power to be good fun, but not so much as to turn it into a torque-steering loon.”

Radical-mag.com (Switzerland): “Fiesta is the right choice for all who just want to own a very fast small streak of lightning. The styling too is very nice. We really like Fiesta ST. It’s an honest car: after the first few meters everybody knows that it wants to have fun. And when the driver gets into it, he will have fun. How much better can it get?”

Omniauto.it (Italy): “This little German car with 182PS is fast, balanced and fun enough for the most passionate drivers.  If the Ford Performance engineers were aiming to prove that a sporty, fun car could still be derived from a regular subcompact car like the new Fiesta, they met their goal. After testing the new ST in the hills outside of Nice, we can say that the Blue Oval’s little rascal (produced in Cologne, Germany) performs easily, safely and resolutely, without any special electronic contraptions. Suffice it to say that in nearly 200km of testing in the rain and snow on the winding roads of Provence, the new Ford Fiesta ST showed no hesitation. As the title indicates, it’s a real sports car.”
