BEIJING, China – Ford and Baidu engineers will come together for a 24-hour "Hackathon" at Baidu’s Beijing campus looking at ways to socialize the car. This marks the largest hackathon for Ford globally and the first time that Baidu has partnered with an outside company for a hackathon event.
The teams of hackers will work through the night to prototype some ideas that will be demonstrated to a selected Ford and Baidu’s judging panel at the end of the event. The best of those ideas will be further developed for potential sociable features in Ford vehicles.
The 24-hour excitement kicks off from Saturday January 26 with more than 100 engineers from Ford and Baidu. The judging panel will comprise leadership team from both Baidu and Ford including Dave Schoch, president, Ford Asia Pacific.
Ford and Baidu worked together lasti year integrating Baidu music apps inside Ford SYNC equipped vehicles in China including the new Ford Focus, Ford Edge and the new Ford Kuga.
Since the hackathon listing on Baidu’s Sina Weibo page, there have been more than 40,567 comments and nearly 36,083 reposts in just three days.
