Ford Wins Two CAR Magazine Awards in South Africa

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Ford Motor Company of South Africa (FMCSA) has scooped up two prizes at the 2013 CAR Magazine Top 12 Awards.

The Ford Figo 1.4 Ambient took Best Budget Car honours, while the Ford Ranger was named the Best Double Cab.

The event recognizes the 12 best cars in given categories, with judges taking RamsayMedia Research Solutions’ 2012 AutoBrand Survey before casting their votes. The judging criteria included personality, price, performance and package. Readers of the magazine were also given a chance to vote online for their favorites in each category.
“Ford is delighted to receive the award for the Best Budget Car, with the Ford Figo, and the Best Double Cab, with the Ford Ranger, as part of the CAR Top 12 Awards.  CAR magazine is highly regarded as one of the leading motoring authorities in South Africa, with many would-be vehicle buyers turning to the magazine for buying advice,” said said Dean Stoneley, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.
The entry level market is extremely competitive with much of South Africa’s sales volume falling in this segment. CAR’s selection of the Figo as the Best Budget Car in South Africa is a testament to the value proposition on offer with the Figo.
Similarly, CAR’s recognition of the Ranger as the leading Double Cab offering in South Africa demonstrates the wide appeal of the vehicle. The Ranger was recently named the “International Pick-Up 2013” as judged by a pan-European judging committee, while the Ranger is also a semi-finalist in the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists Car of the Year Competition.
“The Ranger is a great all-rounder, combining the perfect blend of on-road comfort and stability with off-road capability and we are delighted that both the public and the motoring media have recognised the Ranger as a leader in its segment,” Stonely concluded.
The CAR Magazine awards celebration.
