COPENHAGEN, Denmark - New Ford Transit Custom has named “Van of the Year Denmark 2013” by Motor Journalists Club Denmark (MKD).
The award-winning CV saw off 20 competitor vehicles to take the prestigious title, scoring 93 points - 41 points ahead of its closest rival.
Minister of Transportation Henrik Dam Kristensen announced the result at the opening of the exhibition ‘Transport 2013 'in Herning. He said Ford Transit Custom excelled on driving dynamics, cargo capacity, safety and life cycle economy.
“Ford Transit Custom is a sure winner,” said Carsten Teiner Svendsen, VOTY.dk. “It’s new from the inside out. Full of thoughtful solutions - each designed for the needs of the user. And the drivability is at the same time unique in a CV model. Furthermore the safety is at the highest level - Ford Transit Custom is the first van, which has earned five stars in safety test.”
Søren W. Rasmussen from FDM Motor, said: “Ford Transit Custom was a clear winner because it comes in a variety of possibilities which solves the many different tasks the users face in everyday life. The interior is well equipped for both driving and acting as office during the day, and the load matches the many transport tasks a van encounter in everyday life. At the same time, it is positive that even CV models now can achieve the maximum five stars in Euro NCAP crash tests.”
Ford Transit was Denmark's best-selling van in both 2011 and 2012 and is on course to maintain top spot in 2013. This year demand for Transit in Denmark is up 23 percent compared to last year - despite a general decline in the market for vans of 4.8 percent.
