BANGKOK, Thailand — Visitors to the Ford stand at the 34th Bangkok International Motor Show will be greeted by a dynamic display of the company’s commitment to capturing even more of Thailand’s rapidly expanding small car segment.
Ford will use the Bangkok Show for the ASEAN reveal of the all-new Ford EcoSport compact SUV, which continues the company’s product-led transformation that is helping drive record sales in Thailand and across the ASEAN region. Ford Motor Company expects 60 to 70 percent of its sales growth globally within this decade to come from the Asia Pacific region, with ASEAN playing a key role in this ongoing expansion.
The all-new EcoSport will continue Ford’s commitment to launch segment-leading vehicles that offer an unmatched combination of design, safety, quality, fuel efficiency and smart technologies, such as Ford’s award-winning SYNC connectivity system, at an affordable price.
The all-new EcoSport will be built at the new US$450 million, state-of-the-art Ford Thailand Manufacturing facility in Rayong, which serves as the foundation for Ford’s next phase of growth in the ASEAN region.
“This sporty, compact SUV will not only allow Ford to enter another new segment in ASEAN, it will help to define a whole new vehicle segment for the ASEAN region,” said Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN. “The EcoSport is an urban SUV that blends the flexibility and spaciousness of an SUV with the agility, affordability and fuel efficiency of a compact car.”
Ford will also display its full range of One Ford vehicles at the 34th Bangkok Show, including the class defining all-new Ford Ranger and all-new Ford Focus, as well as the segment-leading and best-selling Ford Fiesta, which will be available throughout the Show dates through extraordinary promotions.
Smart engines, smart gearboxes
In addition to showing off its vehicles, Ford will be giving visitors a glimpse into its advanced EcoBoost engine technology.
Making its ASEAN premiere, the multi-award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will be attracting outsized attention from visitors to the Ford stand. Though the smallest engine in its class, the three-cylinder EcoBoost is big on power, torque and refinement, using smart engineering to deliver an unmatched combination of performance and fuel efficiency.
Ford’s advanced six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission will also be on display, showing visitors how the technologies behind this innovative dual dry-clutch transmission helps to deliver improved fuel economy and performance.
To help visitors better understand the advanced technologies, smart, efficient design and high standards of quality in Ford vehicles, the stand will feature a flip rig – an all-new Ford Ranger shown on its side that allows an up-close-and-personal experience with the pickup’s inner workings.
Ford technicians will be on hand throughout the Show to answer questions and explain the design of the popular all-new Ranger.
The stand will also feature a SYNC IP Unit, allowing visitors to experience for themselves Ford’s award-winning SYNC voice-activated in-car connectivity technology, available on the all-new EcoSport. Visitors can also step inside their favorite Ford vehicle to see how SYNC works in the cockpit, where it’s used to operate digital media players and Bluetooth®-enabled mobile phones via voice commands.
Ford will even help visitors hoping to take the all-new EcoSport on the adventure of their dreams. The EcoSport Urban Adventure will take would-be travelers on an urban discovery to a dream destination within seconds through the use of digital photography – along with the EcoSport of their choice. The images generated can be shared online with friends, or kept as souvenirs of the show.
