DEARBORN - Ford recently assisted a very special family in need by collaborating with the Emmy®-winning syndicated daytime television show The Doctors and generously donated a Ford C-MAX Hybrid.
The Doctors, a television series which educates and empowers viewers as a reliable source of fascinating health and wellness advice, developed a special episode, airing Jan. 13, where various “green” topics were discussed.
Producers of The Doctors, knowledgeable on the importance of hybrid transportation vehicles, now and later, and their contribution to a healthier future, called upon Ford to take part in a surprise green car giveaway, which truly became the highlight of the show.
The show included green topics surrounding hybrid transportation, along with how these types of vehicles, now and later, are contributing to a healthier future. Most importantly, Ford’s surprise C-MAX Hybrid giveaway became the highlight of the show.
“After hearing the Paddock family’s story, there was no doubt in our mind that we would like to help and with the great flexibility and passenger volume, the C-MAX Hybrid would be a great option for them,” said Patricia Piedrahita, C-MAX marketing manager.
Parents Victor (31) and Jessica (24) Paddock wrote into the show telling their story, which included their three children Zachery (8), Jaden (4) and Aubrey (3), two of which struggle with medical issues on a daily basis.
“Ford was honored to collaborate with the television show in order to honor the Paddock family with a C-MAX Hybrid for their family,” said Piedrahita.
The Paddock’s youngest son, Jaden, was born at 25 weeks, weighing 1 pound, 12 ounces, and has a rare form of cerebral palsy. With Jaden not being able to walk, the family needs a lot of equipment for his medical condition. Their daughter, Aubrey, also was born premature at 2 pounds, 8 ounces and has a few medical issues of her own.
The stress placed on the Paddock family has been so severe that Jessica suffered a heart attack at the early age of 24. Although Victor continues to bring in the family income, he barely makes enough money to cover their house payment and since his car broke down in November, transportation has become another significant burden on the family.
During the show, the Paddock family discussed their family’s medical hardships. The panel of doctors all spent time interviewing the family and telling their story. At the end of the segment, Dr. Travis Stork began asking the Paddock family about their challenges in transporting equipment and getting the children to their numerous doctor appointments. After which, he revealed that they were being presented with a 2014 C-MAX Hybrid, courtesy of Ford.
Elated and moved, the family began cheering and celebrating over the generous gift.
“We’re just happy to be a part of such a moving story,” said Piedrahita. “Our hope is that this C-MAX Hybrid helps the Paddock family in the long run in their journey through life.”
