DENMARK, Copenhagen – New Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus ST have been crowned best cars in their class by Danish automotive magazine Bilmagasinet.
Fiesta took top honours in the “Best Minicar” segment, outperforming Peugeot 208, Renault Clio and Kia Rio.
“Ford Fiesta victory is based on all the new equipment, adjustments and improvements. This Fiesta is the far most attractive Fiesta so far and that’s why we awarded it Best Minicar of the year,” the magazine reports. “Ford Fiesta is full of fun. The downsized miniature engine whips off, as if there was a GTI label on it tail.”
In another plus for Ford, Focus ST was declared “Best GTi”, seeing off BMW M135i, Opel Astra OPC, Renault Megané R.S. and VW Beetle Turbo.
“Focus ST got what it deserved after being tested on Nürburgring,” adds Bilmagasinet. “The attitude before the test was, that the Focus ST wouldn’t be able to compete with the Renault Megané RS or Opel Astra OPC on this mean track. But boy, were we wrong! The testing drivers were in for a great surprise. The appetizing comfort and practical functions do make a difference in everyday life. So do also the comfort while driving. Furthermore the Focus ST has a gearbox and an engine which plays in perfectly together. It’s magnificent! Driving agility, fun and pleasant features meet in wonderful harmony.”
