JAKARTA, Indonesia – Just two months after its Indonesia market launch, the all-new Ford Ranger was dubbed the Smartest Worker by AutoBild magazine. Its superior performance, precise handling, comfortable interior, and innovative features stand out among its competitors, demonstrating the effectiveness of the One Ford strategy.
With a cabin spacious enough for four occupants, above average off-road capabilities, and a bed to carry additional loads, the double cab pickup truck is widely known as the hard worker among the many heavy industries in Indonesia. Nowadays, however, automakers are equipping their four-door pickups with numerous innovative features providing passenger-car-like comfort aimed at indulging consumers.
"Consumers are demanding more than raw power. They want a smarter dual cab with more comfort and innovative features," wrote Hendra Noor Saleh, editor-in-chief, AutoBild. "Our quest in this review is to find the smartest worker in the double cab truck pickup segment."
At first glance, the all-new Ford Ranger immediately steals attention with its '21st Century Tough' styling. The short overhang with the signature three-bar grille up front ensures the taut and muscular Ranger radiates power and confidence. The full leather seating along with the integrated display screen, audio and automatic air conditioning system on the centre console creates a contemporary ambience in the cabin.
Equipped with the advanced smart technologies, including Bluetooth® with Voice Control, drivers can operate their mobile phone, audio system and climate control using voice-activated commands – all wirelessly via Bluetooth®.
"Ford has taken a revolutionary step in designing the all-new Ranger. The contemporary look and feel, along with an abundance of smart features, provides comfort normally found in passenger cars," praised Ary Darmajati, one of the editors of AutoBild. "I personally like the many convenient storage areas found inside the cabin.
" In the review, AutoBild pitted the all-new Ford Ranger XLT 2.2 L against its main competitors, the Chevrolet Colorado MT LTZ 2.5 L, Toyota Hilux G 2.5 L, and Mitsubishi Strada Triton Exceed 2.5 L.
Despite having the smallest engine displacement, the all-new Ford Ranger can easily overcome its competitors by generating 150 PS of power and 375 Nm torque – the highest in its class. This superior performance was proven during the acceleration test, with the all-new Ford Ranger taking only 12.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. In addition to its superior performance, the all-new Ford Ranger recorded leading fuel economy of 10.5 km/l and 14.4 km/l for city and highway driving, respectively.
"In terms of performance, acceleration, and fuel consumption, Ford should be proud of its pickup truck, the all-new Ranger," commended Dhany Ekasaputra, editor, AutoBild.
AutoBild finished its review by concluding that the One Ford strategy has succeeded in transforming the all-new Ranger into the smartest worker. The 21st Century Tough dual cab pickup truck is superior in many ways, particularly in performance, handling, interior and features, compared to its competitors.
