Ford Ranger is New Zealand’s Favorite Truck in 2014

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand – New Zealand’s multiple award-winning truck is also New Zealand’s favorite truck in 2014: the Ford Ranger. According to April sales numbers, the Ranger extended its year-to-date lead over the competition with 516 new Rangers owners in the month, which also made it the number one overall vehicle in April.

“We’ve always said it’s about letting the customer decide,” said Corey Holter, managing director, Ford New Zealand. “So while we’re happy with the results so far, it’s even better to see so many customers choosing the Ford Ranger, especially new customers who have made the switch. With higher residuals, multiple industry awards, better performance, capability and refinement, it makes switching from ‘what you’ve always driven’ to the Ford Ranger an easy decision in the end.”

Ford dealers throughout New Zealand are continuing to see a strong demand for the Ranger, both from private sales as well as fleets; many of who are making the switch from competitor vehicles.

John Harmer from Harmer Earthmoving in Ashburton is one such Ranger driver. He just made the switch from Hilux and is now driving a Ranger Wildtrak. Like many Ranger drivers, John has the Ranger pulling double duty as both a work truck and family truck.

“It has more power than the Hilux, sits on the road beautifully and the SYNC Bluetooth is very clear, all of which make it great for the many jobs I’ve got it on,” said Harmer. “But it’s also very comfortable and safe for the family; the seats are comfortable, it has a three point belt in the middle back and I can fit three car seats across the back, which I couldn’t do previously. We’re very happy with the Ranger.”

April was also the first month the all-new Ford EcoSport was in dealerships in New Zealand. In its debut month, the EcoSport made the number two position in its segment, selling a total of 52 vehicles across the country.

“It’s a great start for the EcoSport, especially given it’s a new vehicle in a new segment for Ford New Zealand,” said Chris Masterson, marketing manager, Ford New Zealand. “The EcoSport offers drivers a lot of value in a well-designed, fun, small SUV.”
