 Ford Ranger People’s Favourite

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

PRETORIA, South Africa – Ford’s Ranger was named a winner in two categories in the People’s Wheels Awards. Securing the top honours in the ‘Light Load Luggers’ category as well as the ‘Adventure Bakkie’ category, Ranger is clearly a favourite among South African customers.

The announcement was made at the annual awards ceremony with Master of Ceremonies Joey Rasdien handing out the awards.

“We are thrilled that the Ranger has been selected as a winner,” commented Gavin Golightly Ford Marketing Manager. “Built at our Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria the Ranger is built by South African’s for South African’s and the public’s recognition confirms that the Ranger is a much loved vehicle among the South African public.”

With more than 101 400 votes received in this year’s poll, The People’s Wheels Awards has become one of the country’s biggest automotive surveys. Initiated by The Future Group in association with Standard Bank, research house TNS and the Sunday Times the People’s Wheels survey targets ordinary South African motorists, with the aim of understanding what vehicles they ultimately aspire to drive.

The Ranger boasts all the toughness and rugged capabilities of a pickup truck, but also features smart technology, outstanding safety, superior fuel economy and high standards of quality and comfort normally associated with passenger cars.

“Ranger is great for work and great for leisure, the fact that we topped both the commercial vehicle (Light Load Luggers) and the Adventure Bakkies categories is testament to the all-round versatility and appeal of the line-up,” said Golightly.

Adding to its tally of accolades the Ford Ranger recently won the inaugural “Australia’s Best 4x4 Dual Cab Ute” award at the Australia’s Best Cars Awards and was also recently named the best Best 4x4 Vehicle by the readers of the Pretoria News. Previously Ranger was named the “International Pick-Up Award 2013” as judged by a pan-European judging committee while CAR magazine also recognised the Ranger as its top choice.
