MANILA, Philippines — Sunny clear skies and a nice warm weather greeted the Ford Club Philippine participants and Ford executives at the second leg of the 2013 Auto Rally Corporate Challenge (ARCC) Sampaguita Rally.
With its motto,” On time, all the time,” the Sampaguita (tulip) rally is not based on speed driving but on the participant’s accuracy to gain the perfect time for each stop. It’s a mastery of the route, arriving at each tulip at the precise time.
Ford was represented by four teams and had two 1.5L New Fiesta and two 1.0L New Fiesta EcoBoost units as their vehicles.
Each team had a driver, navigator and timekeeper. Ford Club Philippines members came in full support to represent the Ford team at the rally.
The morning started early at the Harbor Point Mall in Subic, with a final briefing by Butch Gamboa, chairman and CEO of Sunshine Television and final reminders by George Ramirez.
The flag-off began right after the short program, lining up over 60 vehicles from various automotive brands, from cars, SUVs and trucks. Each brand was represented by various car enthusiasts and media friends from the automotive industry.
After a long day of doing the rally, participants had time to freshen up before the awarding ceremonies at the activity center later that evening.
“Ford Club Philippines (FCP) really had fun participating in ARCC Sampaguita Rally. This is indeed a great driving experience for all of us. Thanks to Ford Group Philippines for letting FCP participate in this prestigious event and letting us drive the all new Ford Fiesta EcoBoost. We definitely had an experience that we will never forget,” says Ace Valenzuela, FCP member.
“Driving the Ford Fiesta Ecoboost is really fun. Well built, we love the ergonomics so much, easy and fun to drive, excellent over all appeal of the car and most importantly the fuel economy that we need together with the power of the EcoBoost technology. There is only 1 word to describe this amazing car – PERFECT,” says Ace.
“We are thrilled to be back at the Auto Rally Corporate Challenge with members of Ford Club Philippines. Our participation reaffirms our commitment to promote safe driving, which is aligned with the event motto. It’s remarkable to see other car brands come together and set aside competitive differences to support such a great cause,” says Joseph Ayllon, AVP corporate communications, Ford Philippines.
