MANILA, Philippines — On September 12-13, Ford Philippines hosted its first local media drive for the new Fiesta featuring the 1.5L Ti-VCT engine. Ten automotive and consumer editors participated in the 300 kilometer drive to northern Luzon, Philippines.
Aside from the fuel efficiency drive, the event also included activities that linked to the 8 different Fiesta profiles from our ‘24 Hour Fiesta Project’, set to engage our media participants by matching their lifestyles with the new Fiesta.
The media participants were asked to bring along their work out gear to start the day off like the Fiesta Sunrise Soldier, by doing a few choice exercises led by an aerobics instructor before the long drive ahead.
The participants also took part in the ‘best photo challenge’ inspired by the Fiesta Art-Holic profile. Participants were asked to submit one of their best photos taken during the drive. Mikko David of TopGear Philippines won the award for best creative shot.
Lunch at Bale Dutung was another scrumptious affair where the media participants dined with an extensive 10-course meal, hosted none other than renowned Chef Claude Tayag, epitomizing the Fiesta Charmer profile.
Media also had the opportunity to try out the new Fiesta’s Eco-Mode settings to practice their fuel-efficiency driving skills. They also took part in the ‘name that tune’ challenge, which utilized Ford SYNC to harp on the Fiesta Tech Guru profile.
The winning team for the fuel-efficiency leg, led by Ira Panganiban of Powerwheels and Fhort Manahan of Manila Times, achieved the best mileage of 23.503km/L.
Upon their arrival at the hotel, the participants were treated a full-body in-room massage at Thunderbird Poro Point for their Fiesta Zen Dreamer activity. To cap it all off, an evening full of great company, food and music at the Patio Santorini, ended the night like a true Fiesta Sosyalista.
The next morning, the participants had a chance to participate in fun outdoor sports activities at the beachfront to portray the Fiesta Escape Artist. For their last stop before heading back to Manila, members of the media took time to shop for some of La Union’s souvenir items and delicacies, which brought out the Fiesta Chic Addicts in them.
“The event provided the media with a first-hand experience about the Fiesta’s fuel efficiency and excellent driving dynamics” – Dino Directo, Manila Standard Today
“The new Fiesta media drive was a success in showing how versatile the vehicle could be. The new Fiesta is indeed one of the best picks for the yuppies” –Fhort Manahan, Manila Times
“The Ford Fiesta has once again proven itself as a very versatile and stylish little car. From a fuel miser one day, to a pocket rocket the next, our two-day drive showed how the refreshed Fiesta rationalizes form and function in a loaded package that does not scrimp on features”- Mikko David, TopGear Philippines.
