BRENTWOOD, UK -- Away from the World Rally Championship, where Petter Solberg and Chris Patterson finished third in last weekend’s Rally Mexico, Ford continues to enjoy motorsport success around the globe.
Team Ford Racing secured a first-ever one-two finish for diesel-powered vehicles in the Absa Off Road Championship in South Africa, getting its season underway in style at the curtain-raising RFS Magalies 400 in Krugersdorp. Former South African champions Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst scored a dominant victory ahead of team-mates Lance Woolridge and Ward Huxtable in the sister Ford Ranger TDCi, the latter’s third SP podium since joining the premier class eight races ago.
Touring Car Championship underway
Team Aon has made its FIA World Touring Car Championship debut at the legendary Italian circuit of Monza, with a brand new livery for its Arena Motorsport-run, 1.6-litre turbocharged Global Ford Focus cars. Tom Chilton and James Nash scored a 13th and 16th place finish apiece in the two races.
Rally Di Adria Podium
Augustino Pettenuzzo and co-driver Elio Tirone finished on the podium in the 2012 edition of the Rally Di Adria in Italy, claiming third position in their Ford Focus WRC.
The Ford WRC Facebook page now has 42,245 ‘likes’, and FordWRC on Twitter is followed by 12,866 people – making Ford the most popular WRC manufacturer on both social media sites
