DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – As Ford Motor Company celebrates the 150th birthday of its founder, the Villanueva family is marking 50 years of what has become an automotive empire in the Dominican Republic – Grupo Viamar.
With three dealership facilities distributed around the island, two fully equipped Quick Lane service facilities and more than 400 employees in Santo Domingo, Higuey and Santiago, the family-run enterprise strives to succeed in its mission of providing customers with the best buying and aftersales experience.
Ford Motor Company executives from the United States and the company’s regional office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, attended an anniversary celebration recently in the Ford showroom in Santo Domingo and also commemorated Ford’s 1963 entry into the Dominican market. The event was also attended by well-known local political figures, opinion leaders and VIP finance executives.
“Fernando Villanueva Callot’s entrepreneurship and charitable endeavors makes him a true ambassador of Henry Ford in Dominican Republic,” said Pablo Haase, regional director, Ford International Business Development Inc., Caribbean and Central America. “Grupo Viamar is truly a world-class operation and a terrific partner, and we are grateful for all they do to build the Ford brand in the Dominican Republic.”
Grupo Viamar was one of six Ford Motor Company dealers honored during Ford’s 2012 Salute to Dealers celebration. The award recognizes dealer principals who improve the lives of those in need while providing outstanding products and services.
Fernando Eugenio Villanueva, executive vice president of Viamar Group and son of Grupo Viamar founder Fernando Villanueva Callot, said the family is proud of its affiliation with Ford Motor Company. “We are honored to represent Ford in this market and look forward to continuing to provide our customers with high-quality vehicles with unique features and innovative technologies and to meeting their after-sales service needs.”
