Ford Looks for Lego Builders to Support World Record Attempt

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

BUDAPEST, Hungary – Ford is looking for young Lego builders in Hungary to help build the tallest Lego tower ever constructed.

The LEGO tower building world record attempt is being organised by LEGO Store Budapest and the five-day event will take place from May 21st to 25th in front of Szent István Basilica.

Ford is one of several sponsors backing the world record bid. Last year the highest LEGO tower in the world (34.43) meters was built by students in the US.

This year, the objective for Hungarian kids is to reach 36 meters. The children will use LEGO blocks to form larger “bricks” for the construction of the tower, which will be built under the supervision of two professional LEGO building masters from Denmark. The tower will display Ford’s “Go Further” slogan.

Children will also get the chance to help build a special Lego Ford Mustang to celebrate the muscle car’s 50th birthday.

“Hearing the word LEGO conjures up childhood memories in all of us, and many of us devote a lot of time to one of the most popular games in the world, which allows families to have real fun together, even when they are grown up,” said Viktória Somodi, Ford’s regional marketing director.

“This is why we have been very happy to join the LEGO tower building world record attempt, where we’ll have colourful programs for not only kids, who’ll be able to build future Ford models from LEGO as conceived by them, or take part in compiling a LEGO puzzle of the new Mustang, but we’ll also have interesting spectacle for their parents. They will be able to see our family models featuring a wide range of futuristic active safety systems, like the B-Max, C-Max, Grand C-Max, S-Max, and Kuga.”

He added: “We’ll announce an opportunity for everyone at the Ford Magyarország Facebook site in May, to compile their own Ford LEGO building teams that will work together on the record breaking LEGO tower.”

Zsombor Varga, Ford’s PR and communication director in Hungary, said the world record attempt would culminate on National Children’s Day on May 25th and that it also coincides with UEFA Champions League Final, where Ford will make a special Mustang announcement.
