Ford Launches Powerful, Fuel-efficient Edge 2.0L EcoBoost in China

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

SHANGHAI, China — While the Edge 3.5L continues to enjoy success in the Chinese market, Ford’s award-winning 2.0L turbocharged EcoBoost engine has officially found itself under the hood of the 2013 Edge in the China market. On July 3, Ford China launched the Edge 2.0L EcoBoost to further expand its product portfolio and further meet its customer needs.

“Chinese customers’ needs are evolving. Not only do they seek a lifestyle that comes with owning an urban SUV, but they also care about the environment by choosing a car which has great fuel economy,” said Nigel Harris, vice president, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford China. “Edge 2.0L EcoBoost inherits excellent quality, leading safety and innovative technologies, and also achieves a perfect balance between fuel efficiency and driving performance.”

Combined with a highly responsive, yet very fuel-efficient EcoBoost engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, the Ford Edge 2.0L delivers a powerful performance. A new Active Grille Shutter system in the vehicle optimizes aerodynamics by using vents to control airflow through the grille, so that fuel consumption is also reduced.

According to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the fuel consumption of Ford Edge 2.0L EcoBoost is just 9.5L/100km.

“We are encouraged to see how much consumers like the Edge 2.0L EcoBoost,” said JD Tang, director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford China. “This exciting new addition, further expands Ford’s product portfolio and provides better value for money choices for customers who are fond of urban SUVs. With its reasonable price, I think it will stand out among the competitors in the SUV market.”

Last month, more than 60 journalists from different media drove the Edge with the 2.0L EcoBoost. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

In the near future, Ford will introduce the all-new Ford EcoSport, Ford Kuga and Ford Explorer to China and aims to become the leading manufacturer in the SUV segment in China.

In addition to advanced infotainment systems, this vehicle owes its appeal to its quiet and fun driving environment.
