Ford Korea Sets New All-Time Monthly Sales Record in May

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

SEOUL – Ford Sales Service Korea announced record sales in May, selling 657 vehicles from its Ford and Lincoln brands, making it Ford’s best-ever monthly sales performance in Korea. Previously 614 was the highest record for sales in one month (set in April 2010).

The record is 44 percent higher than May 2012 (456 vehicles sold) and 19 percent higher than April 2013 (551 sold). Total sales from January 2013 to May 2013 were 2,712, reflecting sales growth of 49.8 percent compared with the same period last year, when 1,811 vehicles were sold.

“We are pleased with the continued sales momentum and unprecedented consumer reaction to Ford products in the market,” said Jae Jung, president and CEO of Ford Korea. “The exceptional growth is a testament to Ford’s commitment to offering the freshest product lineup in the import industry and its most expansive lineup ever in Korea.”

Ford’s Explorer, Taurus and Fusion  were the three best-selling Ford models in May and the ones that contributed the most to May’s sales growth. Explorer sold the most, 175, with Taurus capturing 110 sales and Fusion 63.

Enhancing its line-up by launching eight new or refreshed models in 2012, Ford Korea has been continuing such moves by launching Focus Diesel and the all-new Lincoln MKZ in January and in May 2013, respectively. The Lincoln MKZ grabbed the public’s attention even before its launch, as 42 vehicles were delivered to customers within five days, reflecting a great start in the Korean market.

“The all-new MKZ is the first major milestone for Lincoln’s reinvention in Korea,” said Jung. “The initial customer reaction to the vehicle has been very positive and is encouraging as we prepare to introduce a new generation of vehicles with design, craftsmanship, advanced technology and a driving experience crafted to speak to a new breed of luxury buyers here in Korea.”

With an all-new diesel model, new hybrid models and the continued expansion of Ford’s EcoBoost engines being introduced across its lineup, Ford is committed to offering the widest range of fuel-efficient engine options in the import industry.
