Ford India Launches All-New Fiesta PowerShift Automatic

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

NEW DELHI, India — The grand Shah Jehan hall of the Taj Palace hotel in New Delhi was packed with journalists, bloggers and auto critics on Tuesday as they jostled to get the first glimpse of the All-New Fiesta PowerShift Automatic.

"What we are going to launch today is about Ford’s commitment to build its technology pillar…with the revolutionary PowerShift variant of this award-winning car," said Michael Boneham, president and managing director, Ford India. "We are confident that the All-New Fiesta PowerShift Automatic will strongly resonate with consumers, dispel myths and provide an enjoyable driving experience."

A video showcasing the All-New Fiesta and its segment-first features such as Voice-Control with Bluetooth ®, Cruise Control, Hill-Launch Assist and Ford Grade-assist and Rear Parking sensors, played in the background as Boneham invited Nigel Wark, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford India, to join him onstage.
"We are here to bust some long-held myths," said Wark. "There are several myths floating around about automatics -- that they are high on maintenance, are slow in pick up, and low on fuel-efficiency. Not with Fiesta PowerShift Automatic."

He explained that mated with the revolutionary lightweight PowerShift transmission and new top-of-the-line 1.5 L Ti-VCT petrol powertrain, the All-New Fiesta PowerShift Automatic returns an amazing 16.97 km/L and its unique sealed-for-life transmission unit needs no maintenance for 10 years, or 240,000 kms, making it a car with excellent fuel-efficiency and low cost of ownership.

Wark and Boneham busted the final myth of automatics being expensive by announcing the Style variant at INR 899,000, ex-showroom, New Delhi (USD 18,300 approx) and INR 970,300 (USD 19,500 approx) for the Titanium+. They then unveiled the gleaming Paprika Red All-New Fiesta PowerShift Automatic to thunderous applause.
“The all-new Fiesta Powershift Automatic really opens up the segment by making the aspirational become achievable… it offers our customers the next level of comfort and convenience," Boneham said.

The Style features Auto AC, fog lamps, chrome finisher on boot lid and a leather steering wheel. The top-end Titanium+ will have leather seats, Bluetooth® voice control, alloy wheels, auto power-fold mirrors, reverse parking sensor and chrome front grille, giving a plush and rich feel to the amazing ride experience of customers.
The outstanding fuel-efficiency, segment-leading features and driving comfort and pricing makes the automatic variant attractive to manual owners and received wide coverage in the media.

"The inclusion of the Ford PowerShift technology on the new Fiesta may just turn out to be the American auto giant’s secret recipe for India’s ripening C-segment, and it looks quite able of taking the fight right up to the competition," commented leading car portal ZigWheels.Com.
