NEW DELHI, India — It was not just the employee volunteers that brought alive the spirit of the Ford Global Week of Caring in India, but dealers also contributed in a significant way by educating their customers about Ford’s green initiatives and going further by distributing saplings during the week across India.
During the preparatory stage itself, Ford India sent out a Dealer’s Communication Bulletin (DCB) suggesting the idea to its dealers and most of them enthusiastically agreed to participate. It was suggested that customers be presented with a sapling for every new car delivered during the eighth Global Week of Caring.
Customers were informed how, as a responsible automaker, Ford continues to invest in technology that is both fuel-efficient as well as environmentally sustainable — like the award winning EcoBoost engine that has been named ‘International Engine of the Year’ for two years in a row. Ford also employs technologies like the Three-Wet paint process and recycles water and waste in its manufacturing plants worldwide for a cleaner environment. They were then urged to take part and do their bit for the environment by taking the sapling home and planting it.
“We were keen to support Ford’s green initiatives during the Global Week of Caring and gave away nearly 32 saplings along with deliveries,” said Ranjan Mohapatra, vice-president at Capital Ford, a dealership in Bhubaneswar.
“I understand that in this era of global warming how important it is to plant trees and adopt environmental friendly practices. I have taken the sapling home and planted it in my garden,” said R.K.Mishra, a customer at Capital Ford, who took delivery of an EcoSport.
“We are glad that this initiative to distribute saplings has caught on among our customers. As many as 150 dealers have participated in this and over 1,000 saplings given away. I’m sure this will go a long way in spreading the message of Ford as an environment-friendly company among our customers,” said Vinay Piparsania, executive director, Marketing, Sales and Service, who handed over saplings at Harpreet Ford, Gurgaon.
The dealers had also joined hands and pooled together INR 10,25,000 (USD16,153 approx) as contribution to the aid of landslide victims of Uttarakhand that was handed over to the Chief Minister’s Office recently.
