BANGKOK, Thailand — The globally popular Ford Fiesta has again underscored its leadership in fuel efficiency in Thailand, with the four-door Fiesta Sport 1.5-litre with six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission averaging an incredible 23.14 Km/L over 1,050 kilometers from Bangkok to Sakon Nakorn on a single tank of gas.
Ford Fiesta 1.5-litre was recently put to the test to demonstrate Ford’s commitment to delivering class-leading fuel economy in every vehicle segment the company competes.
Twelve respected automotive editors participated in Ford’s controlled fuel efficiency test for the Fiesta 1.5L, which was observed and verified by well-known academic, Dr. Saiprasit Koetniyom, from the Sirindhorn Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering at King Mongkut's University of Technology.
The editors were placed in six pairs, with three pairs driving the five-door Fiesta Sport hatchback model, and the other three driving the four-door Fiesta Sport sedan model. The driver and passenger of each Fiesta were allowed to switch at any point of the test trip while the test condition required the average speed for the whole test distance of no less than 60 Km/h.
The gas tank on each Fiesta was sealed shut in Bangkok at the start of the trip, and air conditioning was set at the middle of the cooled mode in manual system with fan speed “1” and sealed, where it would remain for the duration of the trip.
The drive route was mixed with different road conditions, including urban area with congested traffic, open public highways and driving uphill.
The test challenge started in Bangkok, passing through Saraburi, Nakorn Ratchasima, Burirum, Srisaket, Unbon Ratchatani, Amnard Chareon, Mukdaharn, Nakhon Panom, and ended in Sakon Nakorn.
“The results of our independent test drive have reaffirmed the superior fuel efficiency of the Ford Fiesta,” said Yukontorn ‘Vickie’ Wisadkosin, vice president of Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Thailand. “The exceptional fuel economy of the Ford Fiesta continues to be a main purchasing consideration among savvy Thai consumers, and is a big contributor to the Fiesta’s unmatched value for money.”
