SAO PAULO – The Ford F-4000 light truck showed that it is ready for a challenge in the Rally dos Sertões, the toughest competition in the Americas and one of the most demanding in the world, which begins on August 9. On July 2-3, Ford's light truck won the Off-Road Cuesta Rally, in Botucatu, São Paulo state, and secured leadership of the Brazilian Cross-Country Rally Championship series. The truck was driven by the Autoliner team of Rafael de Souza Martinez-Conde, José Papacena and Leandro Mota.

The 19th Rally dos Sertões will start in Goiânia (Goiás state) on August 9 and finish in Fortaleza (Ceará state) on August 19. Considered the most technical rally ever, it will have 10 stages with a total distance of over 2,500 miles. As the last challenge before the Sertões 2011, the Off-Road Cuesta Rally was also an opportunity for teams to make final adjustments before the competition. The Ford F-4000 is the current six-time winner of the Rally dos Sertões. In the 2010 event, it took the top three podium places in the lightweight category (from 3,500 to 4,800 kg).

In the heavy truck category (from 4,801 at 8,500 kg), Ford also was champion of the Sertões 2010 with the Ford Cargo 1722e 4x4, piloted by the Autoliner team of Ulysses Marinzeck, Cesar Loureiro and Adriano Silva. This year, the team hopes to repeat the excellent results, now with the pilot Amable Martinez-Conde Barrasa, who makes his debut driving the heavy truck alongside Evandro Bautz and Raphael Mohamed.

"The Off-Road Cuesta Rally was very positive for the team. We had a lot of progress in preparing the truck for the Sertões 2011” said Amable Barrasa.

Ford F-4000 Vence mais uma Prova na Preparação para o Rally dos Sertões

SÃO PAULO – O Ford F-4000 mostrou que está preparado para mais um desafio no Rally dos Sertões, a prova mais difícil das Américas e um dos mais exigentes do mundo, que começa no dia 9 de agosto. No último fim de semana, o caminhão leve da Ford venceu o Rally Cuesta Off-Road, em Botucatu, no estado de São Paulo, e garantiu a liderança do Campeonato Brasileiro de Rally Cross-Country com o trio formado por Rafael de Souza Martinez-Conde, José Papacena e Leandro Mota, da equipe Autoliner.

O 19º Rally dos Sertões terá largada em Goiânia (Goiás) e chegada em Fortaleza (Ceará), no dia 19 de agosto. Considerado o mais técnico de todos os tempos, ele terá 10 etapas com um percurso total de mais de 4.000 km. Por ser o último desafio antes do Sertões 2011, o Rally Cuesta Off-Road foi também uma oportunidade para as equipes realizarem os últimos ajustes visando à competição. O Ford F-4000 é o atual hexacampeão do Rally dos Sertões. Na edição de 2010, dominou os três primeiros lugares do pódio na categoria Leves (de 3.500 a 4.800 kg).

Na categoria Pesados (de 4.801 a 8.500 kg), a Ford também foi campeã do Sertões 2010 com o Ford Cargo 1722e 4x4, pilotado por Ulysses Marinzeck, Cesar Loureiro e Adriano Silva, da Autoliner. Este ano, a equipe espera repetir o excelente resultado, agora com o piloto Amable Martinez-Conde Barrasa, que estreia na direção do pesado, ao lado de Evandro Bautz e Raphael Mohamed.
