OAKVILLE, Ont. – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. experienced strong sales of utility vehicles March. Overall, Canadians drove home 22,402 new Ford and Lincoln vehicles in March, an 11 per cent drop from the same period last year.
Sales of sport utilities and crossovers increased 14 per cent, including the Oakville-built Edge, up seven per cent. Ford Escape, Explorer and Expedition also increased by 16 per cent, 21 per cent, and 54 per cent respectively.
“Canadian consumers appreciate the versatility, fuel economy and value offered by our lineup of utility vehicles. Strong sales of the MKZ sedan show that the reinvention of the Lincoln luxury brand is really resonating,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Ltd. “We have a great selection available at our dealerships right now and we look forward to the start of the spring selling season.”
Lincoln MKZ sales rose 42 per cent, while the MKZ Hybrid had its best month of March on record.
