DEARBORN – On Aug. 27, a brilliant summer day in Michigan, members of the Ford Chinese Association (FCA) enjoyed their annual summer picnic with more than 200 family members and friends. Everyone gathered for great food and beautiful weather at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich. The annual summer picnic is one of the group’s larger activities.
The event kicked off with a buffet-style lunch, including traditional Chinese dishes, hot dogs and hamburgers. The wide variety of food and delicious home-cooked dishes are typically the highlight of the picnic, and that was the case this year as well. After lunch, activities included a magic show, relay races, water balloon games and volleyball. Candy-filled piñatas were also a big hit.
Ford Motor Company vehicles were on display in the afternoon, including the Focus, Explorer, Mustang and Lincoln MKX – all of which attracted many onlookers. Members of FCA used the opportunity to showcase the vehicles and talk about the components they helped design or build.
FCA President Raymond Xu extended a warm welcome to the members and their families and thanked everyone for supporting Ford Motor Company and the Ford Chinese Association. While the picnic was organized by FCA board members Nancy Guo, Ron Liu, Dongfan Chen and Dave Chen, it was the efforts of everyone, including family members, that made this year’s event a BIG success.
The FCA was founded in 1983. In 1995, it was recognized as a corporate Employee Resource Group (ERG). Today it is one of the prominent ERG organizations with more than 600 members mainly in Southeast Michigan. Its objectives are to provide value-added services to support the professional needs of its members and to support the diversity and business objectives of Ford Motor Company.
FCA membership is open to current Ford employees and contract employees who have interest in Chinese culture. Membership is free, and it is easy to join. Simply sign up at the FCA SharePoint site and receive weekly and quarterly newsletters about FCA activities. For questions on membership, contact Howard Qiu at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Ford Chinese Association wishes to thank everyone who made this year’s event a big success and extends an open invitation to all Ford employees to participate in future FCA activities.
