SHANGHAI, China -- Chinese performance car lovers will soon get to taste the thrilling driving experience of
the all-new Focus ST.
Customers in China can now place orders for Ford’s first truly global performance car through Ford’s 120 authorized dealers for imported vehicles across the country.
“We are fully aware that Chinese performance car lovers have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the new Focus ST,” said John Lawler, chairman and CEO, Ford Motor China.
”As the first of Ford’s performance vehicle being introduced to China and one of the 15 new vehicles coming to this market by 2015, Focus ST is set to deliver an unprecedented thrilling driving experience to Chinese consumers with its class-leading performance, outstanding handling and stylish sporty design.”
Adding to the excitement of the ST’s arrival, Ford China has launched a consumer campaign called “Schooled by ST.” The program, which will host competitions from March to May in three Chinese cities – Zhuhai, Shanghai and Beijing – will give performance car lovers opportunities to test drive the new Focus ST on a test track.
In the initial recruiting stage, participants can join a quick quiz on the ST mini site (www.ford-st.com.cn). Qualified participants will then enter a more challenging track test stage to compete in demanding tasks like U-turn drifting, J-turn and tight spot parking stunts, which are specifically designed to demonstrate the strong power, superior driving dynamics and excellent handling of the Focus ST.
As a highlight of the program, Ford China will invite three Changan Ford CTCC champions to the program. As masters in the racing world, they will not only showcase the stunt feats that drivers can achieve in the all-new Focus ST but also give guidance to contestants as well as practice with them to help them complete the required tasks.
“The competition is not just for performance car owners. In fact, anyone who has passion for sports cars and craves a more impressive driving experience will find pleasure in the game,” said JD Tang, director, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford Motor (China).
“Three Changan Ford CTCC champions will join the program. They will share their professional driving experiences and get behind the wheel to demonstrate some sophisticated skills in person.”
Making its debut in China at 2012 Auto China, the Focus ST will bring an unprecedented and fresh driving exhilaration to the performance car segment. The all-new Focus ST will hit the market in February in China with a pre-sale price of RMB 268,000（around USD 43,000.
