HAI DUONG, Vietnam — Ford Vietnam has started production of the all-new Focus at the company’s Hai Duong assembly plant near Hanoi.
Special guests attending the official ‘Job 1’ celebration included the U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, David Shear, and Nguyen Manh Hien, president of the People’s Committee of Hai Duong province, who joined Ford executives to witness the first two all-new Focus - a Highlight Silver four-door sedan and Red Fire five-door hatchback - roll off the line.
“I am very impressed by the production process and the quality of vehicles being assembled here in Vietnam. Vietnamese consumers should be excited about the Focus: made in Vietnam, made by Vietnamese workers, and offered at an affordable price,” said Shear.
“Today’s celebration and start of production in Hai Duong marks the latest milestone in the global success story of the all-new Ford Focus," said Laurent Charpentier, managing director of Ford Vietnam.
“The all-new Ford Focus, which is now being built in five production hubs and is available on five continents, is a leading example of our One Ford plan to develop vehicles that meet the needs and expectations of customers around the world.”
The Hai Duong plant’s assembly line is the most advanced in Vietnam, using many of same advanced automotive manufacturing technologies employed by Ford around the world.
Adding production of another global One Ford vehicle to the Hai Duong facility highlights the importance Ford places on Vietnamese market, as well as the company’s confidence in the team to continue delivering vehicles with world-class safety and quality.
“The all-new Ford Focus was developed with customers, not just for them,” explained Charpentier.
“Fuel economy, spirited performance and efficient use of space are universal desires, across global markets – and Focus delivers them all. In Vietnam, the all-new Ford Focus presents all these elements in one outstanding package. It raises the bar in all these areas, which will not only delight our existing customers but also expand the appeal of the Focus brand to a whole new generation of Ford customers.”
The all-new Focus range in Vietnam includes a four-model line-up, comprising the entry-level Ambiente, mid-series Trend, and the high-tech luxury Sport+ and Titanium+ models. The Sport and Sport+ models are available in a five-door hatchback body style while the Titanium and Titanium+ models are available as four-door sedans.
“We will set a new standard for C-segment cars in Vietnam, with a truly fantastic car that delivers several first-in-class technologies, superior fuel economy, and an all-around fun driving experience,” said Charpentier.
Volume production is scheduled to ramp up at the Hai Duong plant over the coming weeks, with vehicles becoming available at Ford dealerships in Vietnam from mid December 2012.
David B. Shear, ambassador of the United State of America in Vietnam, makes a speed at the ceremony.
