Ford Celebrates Annual Take Your Child to Work Day

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

DEARBORN - Many children around the country woke up today excited for what the day would have in store. Instead of going to school, many children went to work with their parents for the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work day.

For the children visiting their parents who work at Ford in Dearborn, the day was celebrated by having Executive Chairman Bill Ford and President and CEO Alan Mulally attend their lunch in the Conference and Events Center.

The executive chairman shared time with the children, signed autographs and took photos.

Mulally also had the opportunity to speak to the group and share h is thoughts with the attendees.

"I'm so glad you’re here," said Mulally. "Your parents and what they're doing is so important for so many reasons. Ford is always known for attracting the best and brightest, and Ford does important work – it's about safe and efficient transportation, it's about quality and it's about contributing to a better world."

Following Mulally's opening remarks, he turned the floor over to the children in attendance to ask questions.

One child asked him which Ford vehicle is his favorite.

"Let me think about," said Mulally. "The Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Taurus, Mustang, Escape, Edge, Flex, Explorer, Expedition, Ranger, F-Series, E-Series and the Transit Connect. Those are my favorites."

Another child asked him how does it feel to be the boss – Mulally responded with both thumbs up.

"That's a great question. It feels really neat," he said. "Do you know what's neat about being the boss – when you get a chance to serve and help everybody out, it's so gratifying. You're able to help everybody contribute to their fullest. It really is an honor."

Mulally was also asked what his first car was. "I think it was a Chevrolet – but I'm over that now," he said.

After the Q&A with Mulally, families enjoyed a lunch and got to experience different exhibits including the chance to meet professional race car driver Audrey Zavodsky.
