OAKVILLE, Ont. – Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited continues to be Canada’s top-selling automaker in October and year-to-date. Sales in October were driven by cars which saw a 17 per cent increase.
Ford Focus had its October sales since 2004, with a 50 per cent sales jump. Ford F-150, Edge and Taurus also saw positive sales results with increases of 24 per cent, 11 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively. Ford Escape hit record highs, with a sales increase of 31 per cent marking its best October sales yet.
“The auto industry is a key engine driving the Canadian economy and it is showing strong, sustainable growth,” said Dianne Craig, president and CEO, Ford of Canada.
“We saw sales strength across the entire Ford line-up, from the fuel-sipping Focus to the capable F-150,” said Craig. “Fuel economy continues to be a key purchase consideration for consumers and we are offering them the power of choice with the EcoBoost engines, hybrid vehicles and plug-in hybrids.”
In fact, 88 per cent of Escapes sold last month and 39 per cent of F-150s sold in October were equipped with EcoBoost engines. The EcoBoost engine gives consumers the combination of powerful performance and great fuel efficiency.
Automobile Journalist Association of Canada (AJAC) members also recognized Ford by awarding Ford “Best New City Car” for Focus Electric, “Best New Family Car over $30,000” for Fusion Hybrid, “Best New SUV under $35,000” for Escape 1.6L EcoBoost and “Best New Sports – Performance car under $50,000” for Focus ST at the 2013 AJAC Car of the Year competition.
