BUENOS AIRES, Argentina - Ford Argentina celebrated its 100th anniversary of uninterrupted presence in the country with a visit by Bill Ford, Mark Fields, Ziad Ojakli, Steven Armstrong and other regional executives to commemorate this key date. The executives’ visit balanced the celebrations of Ford’s accomplishments in the country with a confident, future-looking message of our commitment to Go Further, cultivate the local talent and market for continued growth, and lead the auto industry here through innovation.
Founded on December 31, 1913, Ford Argentina was the first automotive company to set up operations in the country and the second affiliate of Ford Motor Company outside North America.
“We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Ford Argentina not only to honor our past, but also to inspire our future,” said Bill Ford.
Celebrations began on November 9 with an “Open House” at the Pacheco Plant´s facilities, where employees and their families helped kick start the celebrations. Approximatley 18,000 people spent the day enjoying different activities, including an amusement park, multiple concert-shows and other attractions for children and adults.
The Open House was followed by Bill Ford’s visit to the Pacheco Plant on November 14, where he interacted with employees and joined other executives in signing a new Focus’ body to officially mark the anniversary milestone.
Celebrations concluded on November 15 with a luncheon with approximately 250 Argentinean media and a gala dinner that evening with key stakeholders consisting of 450 guests representing the union, dealers, suppliers and others in the community.
During both events held at the Hilton Hotel in Buenos Aires, Ford recalled a century of innovations introduced by the company, which pioneered the development of the automotive industry in Argentina. An innovative theatrical and movie program was specially developed and played out to communicate how the Go Further spirit has always been a guiding principle in the history of Ford in the country. The play performed at both events was also live streamed through main consumer and automotive digital media, reaching more than 11,000 viewers.
During the dinner, children from the Henry Ford Technical School located at the Pacheco Plant added an emotional touch to the evening when they surprised Bill Ford on stage and offered him a jersey from the Argentine national soccer team along with other gifts made with recycled material from the production plant.
A centenary book titled “100 Years Creating the Future in Argentina” was developed and printed to commemorate the occasion. The book is also available digitally in English at: http://www.youblisher.com/p/754778-Libro-Ford-100-ingles/
