SAO PAULO, Brazil - During a press conference in Campus Party, the biggest technology event in Brazil, Ford announced the arrival of SYNC® AppLink™ in Brazil this year. The decision is part of the company´s global strategy to meet the needs of drivers who want to be safely connected in their vehicles.
This is the second straight year that Ford has participated in the event, being the only brand in the automotive segment to participate in the technology show.
Gathering together auto and consumer journalist alongside bloggers, mostly of them tech-oriented, Ford`s executives highlighted Ford`s pioneering history regarding technology driven for safety.
Rogelio Golfarb, FSAO vice-president for Corporate Affairs, highlighted Ford`s concern with safety and the technologies that Ford are delivering towards it. He introduced Doug VanDagens, Global Director of Connected Services, who talked about connected cars trends and how Ford is not only understanding this moment but also contributing to it. The next to discourse was Scott Burnell, Global Lead, Business Development & Partner Management, that addressed Ford Developer Program, attracting the attention of the local developers. David Borges, Supervisor of Connected Services in Brazil, demonstrated Applink operation directly from the stage.
The event takes place from January 27 to February 2, 2014, at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, in São Paulo. For this edition, Ford also prepared such a significant participation: besides Applink announcement, innovative activations with the interaction of campuseiros, workshops with content of great interest and technological importance Keynotes.
The launch of this technology in Brazil shows Ford Brazil is in line with the company´s global strategy, which is growing just as quickly as mobile technology. The evolution of SYNC® sales is proof of this growth. The system reached the 5-million mark after being on the market for five years and one year later, this volume doubled. Today, SYNC® is present in more than 10 million vehicles across the world.
“We were also pioneers in the interaction between man and car when we launched the SYNC-equipped Edge in Brazil in 2008. Today´s consumers do not want to be in a ´´blackout´´ zone. They demand 24-7 connectivity. And we want to lead this new era in the automobile industry with vehicles which are more intuitive, more connected and even safer,´´ added Rogelio Golfarb, Corporate Affairs Director for Ford South America.
Today, SYNC® is offered in almost every vehicle in Ford´s Brazilian line-up, including the New Fiesta, EcoSport, Focus, Fusion and Edge.
