Focus delivers on fuel economy promise, say 94 percent of owners

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

CHONGQING, China – Focus doesn't just talk big about its class-leading fuel economy, it truly delivers on customer expectations.

In a poll of Focus owners conducted in January, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) found that 94 percent were satisfied with their daily fuel consumption.

The poll was carried out in two of China's largest online automotive communities – club.autohome.com.cn and xcar.com.cn – to assess whether consumer attitudes towards the fuel consumption of the Focus were in line with Ford's official figures.

Over a period of one week, 4,429 Focus owners answered nine questions related to their vehicle's fuel consumption. Thirty-five percent of the respondents stated that they were ''absolutely satisfied'' with their daily fuel consumption, while 59 percent said they were “satisfied”.

The poll follows on the heels of a report by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology which outlines official fuel consumption data of all passenger vehicles within 3.5 tons sold in the Chinese market. The Ministry also maintains a public database with continuously updated figures.

According to the results of the CFMA poll, 10 percent of Focus owners achieved lower fuel consumption than the data in the government report, while 59 percent showed a similar level.

The majority of respondents (89 percent) stated they have recommended Focus to a family member or friend. Fifty-seven percent stated they will continue to recommend Focus to others after reading the government report, while 37 percent said they are now more willing than ever to recommend Focus.

The positive results of the Focus poll are especially encouraging as Club Autohome is the world's most visited automotive website and Xcar is recognised for its coverage of the automotive industry.

With great driving quality and fuel economy, the competitive Ford Focus achieved a new monthly sales record in China in January when sales surged 78 percent year-on-year to 17,151 units.
